Our History
From Nation LTD to Nation.la — Same Brand, New Home
Nation Los Angeles started with one T-shirt. A vintage-inspired V-neck in soft cotton, made in Los Angeles and designed to feel like it had lived a few lives already. It was 2005. The idea was simple: create everyday essentials that felt elevated, effortless, and anything but ordinary.
We launched as Nation LTD, born in LA, rooted in real life. What followed was a slow, steady evolution into a full collection of pieces made to wear often, feel amazing, and go with everything.
Made in LA. Evolved in Peru.
In the early years, we made every piece locally in Los Angeles. But as the brand grew, so did our ambition to do things better—not just for the woman wearing it, but for the people making it, too. We moved production to Peru, where we found a vertically integrated supply chain that gave us full visibility from seed to final stitch.
It was a shift grounded in intention: better fabric, better oversight, and better practices at every level. Today, most of our garments are made in partnership with Peruvian teams we’ve worked with for years. These are long-term relationships built on shared values–quality, traceability, and progress.
As we’ve grown, so has our global footprint. We’ve expanded our vendor matrix to include thoughtfully selected partners in Portugal, Tunisia, and Mauritius. While our reach has evolved, our sourcing philosophy hasn’t. Every decision is still grounded in transparency, responsibility, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Re-established in 2016
In 2016, the brand turned a corner. We re-established Nation with a new creative direction, a deeper commitment to responsibility, and a sharper eye for detail. The silhouettes became more refined, the fabrics more sustainable, and the styling more considered. But the essence stayed the same.
We weren’t chasing trends. We were building a modern uniform. Beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly undone.
The Materials That Matter
More than 70% of our collection is made from 100% natural fabrics: Pima Cotton, organic Peruvian cotton, linen, and alpaca. We choose these not only for how they feel, but for how they’re made. We avoid unnecessary synthetics, and when we do use them, it’s always purposeful and kept to a minimum.
Every fabric we consider is rated through our internal Environmental Impact Score, which looks at things like renewability, chemical safety, traceability, and end-of-life. Only materials that meet our minimum standards are approved, and most go well beyond.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress. About creating pieces that last longer, wear better, and feel right in every way.
From Nation LTD to Nation Los Angeles
In 2025, we transitioned from nationltd.com to nation.la. Same brand. Same commitment. Just a cleaner, more confident reflection of who we are now, rooted in the city that continues to inspire us.
We’re still based in LA. Still doing things with intention. Still designing elevated essentials for real life.
What’s Next
Nation Los Angeles is still evolving, but our core stays constant: thoughtful fabrics, timeless silhouettes, and a collection made to move with you. Through seasons, through years, through everything.
We’re not here to make throwaway clothes. We’re here to make favorites.
